If you have a business or other non-domestic property, you have until 31 March to request changes to your current valuation for business rates.
After 1 April, you will only be able to request changes to your new valuation.
This is because the 2023 rating list closes on 31 March 2026.
A rating list is the official record of rateable values for all commercial, and other non-domestic, properties in England and Wales. It is used by local councils to calculate business rates bills.
The new 2026 rating list will take effect from 1 April 2026, after the Valuation Office Agency (VOA) updated rateable values for England and Wales.
Why is there a deadline?
When a new rating list comes into effect, the previous list must close. This is a normal part of how the business rates system works and is set out in law.
Closing a rating list means each list has a clear beginning and end. This:
- helps make sure the information it contains is final and reliable
- gives certainty about past valuations, helping you plan and budget with confidence.
It also means the VOA can move on to keeping the new rating list accurate. This ongoing process is known as list maintenance.
When is the deadline?
You have until 31 March 2026 to:
- check the factual details we hold about your property on the 2023 list
- let us know if anything is wrong.
This process is called a Check. You need a business rates valuation account to make a Check.
If you do not have an account, or you have not logged in recently, you should register now. It can take up to 15 days to complete the verification process and claim your property.
You can manage your business rates yourself. If you want to appoint an agent, use our guidance on choosing a business rates agent.
Are there any exceptions?
Changes can still be made to the 2023 rating list if you started a Check before 1 April 2026. This also covers any related Challenges.
The VOA can fix mistakes on the list up to 31 March 2027. If we change your property details, you have 6 months from the date of the change to submit a Check.
If you want to Challenge your valuation on the 2023 rating list because of a tribunal or court decision, you must make a Check by 30 September 2026.

Pam ein bod ni’n cau’r rhestr ardrethu?
[English] - [Cymraeg]
Os oes gennych fusnes neu eiddo annomestig arall, mae gennych tan 31 Mawrth i ofyn am newidiadau i’ch prisiad ardrethi busnes presennol.
Ar ôl 1 Ebrill, byddwch ond yn gallu gofyn am newidiadau i’ch prisiad ardrethi busnes newydd.
Mae hyn oherwydd bod rhestr ardrethu 2023 yn cau ar 31 Mawrth 2026.
Mae rhestr ardrethu yn gofnod swyddogol o werthoedd ardrethol ar gyfer pob eiddo masnachol, a phob eiddo annomestig arall, yng Nghymru a Lloegr. Fe’i defnyddir gan gynghorau lleol i gyfrifo biliau ardrethi busnes.
Bydd y rhestr ardrethu newydd ar gyfer 2026 yn dod i rym o 1 Ebrill 2026, ar ôl i Asiantaeth y Swyddfa Brisio (VOA) ddiweddaru gwerthoedd ardrethol ar gyfer Cymru a Lloegr.
Pam bod terfyn amser?
Pan ddaw rhestr ardrethu newydd i rym, rhaid cau’r rhestr flaenorol. Mae hyn yn rhan arferol o’r ffordd mae’r system ardrethi busnes yn gweithio ac fe’i nodir yn y gyfraith.
Mae cau rhestr ardrethu yn sicrhau bod gan bob rhestr ddechrau a diwedd clir. Mae hyn yn:
- helpu i sicrhau bod yr wybodaeth sydd ynddi yn derfynol ac yn ddibynadwy
- rhoi sicrwydd ynghylch prisiadau blaenorol, gan eich helpu i gynllunio a chyllidebu’n hyderus
Mae hefyd yn golygu y gall y VOA symud ymlaen i gadw’r rhestr newydd yn gywir. Gelwir y proses barhaus hon yn gynnal a chadw’r rhestr.
Pryd yw’r terfyn amser?
Mae gennych tan 31 Mawrth 2026 i:
- wirio’r manylion ffeithiol sydd gennym am eich eiddo ar restr 2023
- rhoi gwybod i ni os oes unrhyw beth yn anghywir
Gelwir y broses hon yn achos Gwirio. Mae angen cyfrif prisio ardrethi busnes arnoch i gyflwyno achos Gwirio.
Os nad oes gennych gyfrif, neu heb fewngofnodi yn ddiweddar, dylech gofrestru nawr. Gall gymryd hyd at 15 diwrnod i gwblhau’r broses o wirio’ch cysylltiad a hawlio’ch eiddo.
Gallwch reoli eich ardrethi busnes eich hun. Os hoffech benodi asiant, defnyddiwch ein canllawiau ynglŷn a dewis asiant ardrethi busnes.
A oes unrhyw eithriadau?
Gellir gwneud newidiadau i restr ardrethu 2023 os ydych wedi dechrau achos Gwirio cyn 1 Ebrill 2026. Mae hyn hefyd yn cynnwys unrhyw achosion Herio cysylltiedig.
Gall Asiantaeth y Swyddfa Brisio gywiro camgymeriadau ar y rhestr hyd at 31 Mawrth 2027. Os ydym yn newid manylion eich eiddo, mae gennych 6 mis o ddyddiad y newid i gyflwyno achos Gwirio.
Os ydych eisiau herio’ch prisiad ar restr 2023 oherwydd penderfyniad tribiwnlys neu lys, rhaid i chi gyflwyno achos Gwirio erbyn 30 Medi 2026.
